I’ve seen Battle Golfer on ebay quite often but was never at all interested because I saw the golf club and I knew it was a golf game. I’m really not interested in collecting sports games so I always dismissed this one. By chance I found out that Battle Golfer, while still a golf game, is also an RPG. It sounded insane but… it is Japanese.
Your character is one of two school girl friends. Both are abducted but you mange to escape before the brain washing and now must enter the golf tournament in order to save your friend and I think the world too. Got it?
Now I was interested in Battle Golfer. It’s bizarre, an RPG , in excellent condition… and I won it for 99 cents (well, not really but more on that below)!
Next up is Lord Monarch and Mickey Mania. I’ve always liked the artwork on Lord Monarch and passively wanted to add it to the collection for a long while. It’s a strategy game that can take advantage of the Mega Drive mouse. Not that I have the mouse, know Japanese or will ever play this game but I’m still enjoying this addition.
Mickey Mania on the other hand is a game I could play and I hear it’s very good. And for the other two?… they were cheap and in great shape, perfect filler for the collection. Actually what I like most is that Ichidantoaru (the one with the tittle that starts ‘Puzzle & Action’) has the newer packaging style with the blue Mega Drive bar along the left side. Aside from the posterity edition of Pier Solar this is the only Mega Drive era game I have with this styling.
Battle Golfer – 99 cents
Hyokkori Hyoutan Island – 10 cents
Puzzle & Action Tanto-R- $5.50
*All in about $20 with shipping.
Lord Monarch – $30 with shipping (don’t feel awesome about this one but it’s not the end of the world)
Mickey Mania – $15 with shipping
Awesome deal on Battle Golfer – I know I paid a lot more for mine back in the day. Also, there are a bunch more blue bar MD games out there, so I know you’ll end up with more. You should play Micky Mania as soon as you can, as it’s pretty amazing from a technical perspective. It’s almost lke a Treasure game in terms of what the programmers did with the Genesis… you’ll see…
