Here are two new additions for the collection. Both are for the Japanese Mega Drive.
Osomatsu-kun – Hachamecha Gekijō is crazy. It’s a fun addition to the collection because it’s not very language dependent and it’s so bizarre. The graphics are nice but as a platformer it’s just OK. It actually reminded me of Kato & Ken for the TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine. Although it’s not that weird.
Osomatsu-kun – Hachamecha Gekijō
I didn’t notice right away but the cart has some damage. A small portion of it has a white mark as if that area had been rubbed away. I would have said it was in Excellent condition but instead I’ll say it’s in Very Good condition.
Virtua Racing I got because I was curious about the only Mega Drive game that has a special processor(chip) built onto the cart to help render the graphics. This additional chip is why Virtua Racing can’t be emulated.
But like most games that were once amazing mostly because of their graphics Virtua Racing isn’t all that exciting anymore. What I did notice is that Virtua Racing does appear to be pretty smooth which I imagine would have been pretty impressive back in the day.
Everything is in great shape except there is a little bit of damage along the top edge of the front cover. Just like Osomatsu-kun – Hachamecha Gekijō I’m going give Virtua Racing a rating of Very Good instead of Excellent because of its small blemish.
Osomatsu-kun – Hachamecha Gekijō – $5.00
Virtua Racing – $5.00
Plus about $10.00 for shipping.
I have both of those as well and I recall Virtua Racing being the most expensive MD game when it was released because of that chip. Even here in the US it cost more than any other Genesis title, but by the time it came out, it wasn’t as impressive it was as an arcade game.
I still would have preferred that cancelled Lufia (I still remember seeing the box art in an EB Games here and being really happy we’d see another RPG make it to the SNES and Genesis around the same time – oh well)…

I hate hearing about canceled Mega Drive/Genesis Games. Such lost potential. I also can’t help but think about Phantasy Star Generaton 1 (English) that was canceled and then brought back to us! 🙂 Ah, what a victory!
I actually have Lufia: The Ruins of Lore for the GBA. I bought it a long time ago just based on the screen shots. I read a little about it after reading your post and it sounds like it’s a good game. I’ll need to give it some attention. Now that you have me thinking about the GBA I have to say it’s an awesome handheld. It would be my favorite!. Geat system (GBA SP) and fantastic library of games.
I have about 30 games for the GBA all complete and in the box… I really didn’t name my site very well. I need to figure out how to work other games in here 🙂

Yes, Kato & Ken is a fun game. I have good memories of it from back in the day 🙂
This isn’t the first time we’ve picked up the exact same titles at pretty much the same time. We’re in sync! Or maybe we’re just buying soooo much that statistically it’s going to happen 😛

You were talking about Phantasy star… now this?? This brings you down a peg. On another note, I borrowed another PS2, and you’ll be happy to know that this one actually works on the first try!… not like the other were 40+ times wouldn’t do it. I’m going to bury the other PS2 in my back yard. R.I.H. Rest In Hell:)

LOL! It’s true these two games do not measure up to my beloved Phantasy Star Generation 1!
I’m very happy to hear that you’re replacement Playstation 2 is working with the English translated PSG1.
And if I’m dissecting your comment well enough it sounds like you’re going to bury your first PS2 that you also borrowed from someone. I’ll have to remember not to lend you anything; ever!
Happy gaming terrrasmurf! 🙂

Remember Bonk… that was a cool game for the PC Engine/turbo graphix 16.

Yeah, there are some gems for the Turbo Grafx-16. Bonk and Devil’s Crush were two of my favorites. I remember being surprised that I didn’t like Keith Courage all that much despite how cool it looked.
