Unfortunately three of the games here are games that I will not be able to play. And while Wrestle War looks like it could be fun for some reason the action gets reset to a different area of the arena every time something happen against the ropes. I’m not sure what’s up with that. But just like Dynamite Duke with a fake Dolph Lundgren I’m going to site Wrestle War as a must have because of the unlicensed Hulk Hogan on the cover. 🙂
I think I just discovered that Royal Blood is Gemfire for the Genesis. So there is an English option if I ever feel the need discover what it’s all about.
These four games that are all in excellent condition and are here to fatten the collection. They’re pretty cheap and look good. And for me that’s often enough.
Wrestle War $5
Mega Lo Mania $10
Royal Blood $8
Zan $5
Here are another three new additions for the collection. Both Patlabor and Junction are in excellent condition. I’m going to say Yu Yu Hakusho Gaiden is only very good because of two marks at the top of the front cover (top left and top right; I hate when the cover has damage but otherwise it’s excellent).
Patlabor and Yu Yu Hakusho Gaiden are both adventures games and the Japanese language will prevent me from being able to play them. Junction is a puzzle game that looks like it could have some potential but I’ll have to play it for a bit to find out for sure.
Patlabor $12
Yu Yu Hakusho Gaiden $8
Junction $6
With about $11 in shipping for all three.
*Note: The last two ‘New Additions‘ posts (including this one) detailed games that came in the same shipment. I broke them up into smaller posts so that I didn’t have to take pics, crop/edit and write them all up in the same sitting. So when you see the shipping cost above it’s a bit skewed. I’ll always show exactly what games cost me but if shipping seems low it could be because I received a large package and didn’t write them all up at once. My next ‘New Additions‘ will include four games and they will be the last of package of ten games that I received from the ebay seller Hit-Japan.
Here are three new additions for the collection. All are Japanese Mega Drives games and all of them are in excellent condition.
I’ve always liked the cover for Slime World even though it’s not all that. It’s simple and detailed at the same time. And the dudes outfit is cool but he seems a wee bit pudgy for someone who’s been running and gunning all his life.
Shura No Mon is one that I will not be able to play because it’s too language dependent. It’s looks like some crazy turn based one on one fighting RPG. I’m curious about it’s game play but really it’s just here to swell the ranks.
Klax is a good puzzle game. I had played a lot of Tetris by the time Klax came around so it wasn’t as novel but it is a fun puzzle game worth checking out.
I’m starting to notice that most of the games I’ve been picking up have been Japanese Mega Drive games. It’s not really a problem and it wasn’t a conscious decision it just sorta of happened. I can’t really pin-point why but I’m guessing I have had more luck finding Japanese games that meet my interests; such as being in good condition, having good art work/covers and reasonable prices.
When I first put this little blog together I noticed that my collection was very closely split between Genesis and Mega Drive. Right now after the addition of the items below I’m sitting at 121 Genesis titles and 115 Mega Drive titles (and 189 Master System games). It’s not too critical but I think I’d like to keep this split pretty close. Specially since I’ve been mulling over the idea of getting a second book shelf to help deal with my Growing Pains and Seventh Shelf problem. With a close to even split I’ll be able to display Genesis games on one shelf and Mega Drive games on the other. My Master System and Mark III games might span both book shelves taking up one or two shelves at the bottom of the collection.
These five new additions are all Genesis games. I found them on ebay from the same seller. It was Marvel Land that caught my eye first. If I’m going buy one item from a seller I often look to see if they have any others I might want. This helps reduce the per item shipping cost and I often send a message to the seller and make an offer for a bulk purchase. In this case these games cost me $75 including shipping. So that’s $15 per game. Which is less than what it would have cost if I didn’t send the seller an offer. I find that most will agree or at least have a counter offer if you seem reasonable.
Marvel Land is in Excellent Condition. Near mint but not quite.
Marvel Land
Toxic Crusader is also in excellent condition but there are some speckles on the cart label and I can’t tell if that’s how it is or if it’s damaged. So I’m just going to list this one as in Good Condition.
Toxic Crusader
Wolverine Adamantium Rage would be in mint condition except the cart label on it also has speckling similar to Toxic Crusader so again I’m just going to list it as in Good Condition.
Wolverine Adamantium Rage
Super Street Fighter 2 is in Excellent Condition.
Super Street Fighter 2
ToeJam & Earl Panic on Funkotron
ToeJam & Earl Panic on Funkotron is in Very Good Condition. The manual is keeping it from being in excellent condition.
Here’s comes another three new additions to the collection. There not mint but still in excellent condition.
Gynoug always peeked my interest. Even though there are tons of side scrolling shooter in Gynoug you’re not some space craft your a dude with wings (Similar to Insector X) . Sure it’s a subtle difference but it’s neat and that combined with some cool artwork it makes for a fun score.
Gynoug
Dynamite Duke looks like a game I think I would have liked back in the day. However, it doesn’t look like it’s held up very well over the years but it does have Dolph Lundgren on the cover and when you’re looking for any excuse to buy a 22 year old game that will do.
Dynamite Duke
I had Fantasia back in the day and I remember not really liking it. But I can’t remember why. The graphics are nice and it looks like it should be a solid platformer. I’d like to revisit Fantasia and see what I think now.
Fantasia
Gynoug $23
Dynamite Duke $11
Fantasia $13
(Shipping included)
Received two new additions. Dino Land is in very good shape and it’s one that I use to have a long time ago but traded away. I don’t remember it being a pinball game. But it is and it’s pretty good. This is a fun game that needs no translation.
Puyo Puyo RPG Madoh Monogatari I is in Excellent condition and really does need translation! It’s looks like a full on RPG that I really wish I could play. I’m a big fan of Puyo Puyo. It was one of my favorite Mega Drive tittles back in the day and it’s still a great puzzle game. When I first discovered it the competitive nature of the game really set it apart from other puzzle games like Tetris and Columns. And the wacky characters were really so bizarre that I couldn’t help but laugh at their battle expressions 🙂
Madoh Monogatari I looks like it might be all dungeon crawl but I still wish I could really try it out. But I really like the case and artwork. Great for the collection!
Dino Land $8 and Madoh Monogatari I $24. All in $43 with shipping. When I buy a bunch of games at once I like it when the average price doesn’t exceed $20 (including shipping) per game. But at the same time I really like collecting these damn games… So clearly my philosophy on game prices is more of a guild line than hard and fast rule.
